Always wanted to see a REAL and INTENSE Adam West Batman episode with real writing and a real life-and-death stakes. Something that had real punch to it. Give the guys something to act to. Ceasar Romareo holds the city hostage and kills a GC policeman while Batman is sued to reveal his secret identity. That would surprise a whole lot of people!

Actually this isn't a totally historical accurate version. I am indeed old enough to have first seen this episode in January 12, 1966 and that particular ABC opening 'color signature' wasn't used for this and would be gone entirely from all ABC color shows by the end of Summer 66. So this premiere episode marks the very first occasion of ABC using the less elaborate format of having a quick shot of the series title card along with 'In Color' (accompanied by a brief music cue) which would be true of all their prime time shows by Fall 66. CBS and NBC continued on with their longer elaborate versions.

the funniest thing is Commissioner Gordon can't tell Batgirl is his daughter despite having the same voice (and he's known his daughter all his life). Any yes, I know for the show, he had to remain ignorant. Even Batman is not a very good detective if he can't tell Batgirl is Barbara Gordon. Only Alfred was smart enough to figure it out. Alfred really was the brains behind the scenes.

The First time I went to LA I spent most of a day looking for 77 Sunset Strip: It doesn't exist.

Commissioner Gordon looked a lot like Jerry the king lawler.

Besides Adam West and Burt Ward, I will always have a soft spot for Yvonne Craig's portrayal of Batgirl.

I love how Dick was totally uninterested in the idea of Barbara at first. Yet we all know in the comics they went on to be quite the off and on couple.

Neil Hamilton (Commissioner Gordon) was a very devout Catholic all his life. In the 1940's he couldn't get a job and his personal life was suffering. He decided to commit suicide by jumping from the mountains around Santa Monica. On the way up one of the higher mountains, he encountered a priest and told him the whole story. The priest encouraged him instead to pray a novena (a series of prayers over a 9 day period). After that, he received a call from MGM for a movie part and his career took off from there

Burt Ward has said he never got to see the finished first episode of Batman until it aired on ABC in January 1966. He was living essentially as a very struggling actor and had a one-room apartment with a small black and white TV. When he saw it the night it premiered it was then that he realized that he was part of a very good show
